Integrating a custom app with calling extension SDK

Hi there,

we are testing a custom app (a Chromebar extension) to make calls directly from the HubSpot web pages. The Chromebar extension is connected to a contact center software hosted on premise via WebRTC. We would like to test the calls through the app, once the user press the phone icon.
We have manually set the iframe URL for your browser by setting a localStorage value and it works, but when you hit the button it displays a message that says to turn on calling feature.
HubSpot technical support confirmed us that as we are using a custom app for calling, HubSpot calling feature shouldn't affect our custom app. BTW, in a developer portal you cannot turn on call settings...
Any idea on how to get out of this situation?

Hi @michelangeloWN

I confess I don't fully understand what you're trying to acheive.

HubSpot Calling is available on Sales Hub or Service Hub.

To use HubSpot Calling you will need to be assigned a "Pro" License (available in Starter, Pro or Enterprise).

Hidden on this page (search for "Calling" and click on the "tick") you can see how many minutes each plan gets.

Have fun

Mike

Hello @michelangeloWN,

I checked about your query and it seems you can only make calls from HubSpot if you're a user with an assigned Sales Hub or Service Hub paid seat.

I suppose you will be using a developer account for testing it but I think for making actual calls you will need to use a paid account.

Please refer to this doc: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/calling/use-the-calling-tool

Thanks,

Hi @Mike_Eastwood, we are trying to integrate a custom app to make calls directly from HubSpot. What it is not clear to me is if to achieve this we must use a paid license of Sales or Service Pro. Indeed when we launch the call, HubSpot displays the message to tun on calling feature.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Michelangelo

Hi @Jaycee_Lewis, thank you for the reply. I am wondering if the experts mentioned @Mike_Eastwood and @himanshurauthan have any feedback on that. I did some research and it seems that the Calling extension SDK provides support only for paid users.  So we would need to pay a HubSpot user license and the third-party calling service even if we use an external system. Is it true?
