I can't use HTML or Markdown in Timeline event template

As the title, even on the website stating we can use it, I'm not sure why it's not taking my code.

This is what I put in the detail template.

<html>
<body>
RMA number: {{ RMANUM }} <br />
RMA Date: {{ RMADate }} <br />
RMA Detail: {{ RMADetail }} <br />
</body>
</html>

It treats everything as text. I just want to get the linebreak working.
