Re: Hubspot marketplace app lisitng

Hi Community,

I am having a bit of an issue listing my app with in marketplace. I have submitted several reviews and fixed each feedback the only problem remains are the "Active Installs". I have installed my hubspot app with multiple accounts, although all of them have been free accounts, but the install count does not increase in the listing application. I am not sure if its because of free accounts or something else but I need to get these installs.

If there is something that can be useful regarding this, I'd appreciete it. Thanks

Hi Umair,

Yes you will need at least three independent production portals (paid HubSpot accounts that are not affiliated with you) for your listing application to proceed.

If you don't know three companies which meet that criteria, share a summary of what your app does and the scopes required. Others like me can request the installation link and install it in our paid portals to test it. That would help you over the listing threshold. You could also do the same in the HubSpot Developer Slack channels.

best,

Pete

Hi Umair,  thanks for sharing these extra details and your app install link.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to install it in my production portal, because "Contacts.read" is one of the most sensitive scopes to grant to a 3rd party app. Under GDPR and SOC2/ISO27001, protection of contact data, including names and email addresses, is paramount. Your app reading and copying contacts and their properties to an external system would be a showstopper for us. It is likely to be a sensitive issue for other live production portals as well.

What I recommend is that you publish the content that you have planned for your marketplace listing, onto a web page that you control. There you can use it for promoting your (beta) app, to attract your first potential beta-test clients who need to solve the problem that your app addresses, and would be open to installing it for beta test.

Use the real feedback from three customers to improve and publish your listing. It makes for a better listing and is a key reason why HubSpot requires the three production portal installs.

Sorry I can't help further by installing it with Contact.Read scopes, but hopefully this article and context will help you with your next steps to launching your app!

best

Pete

Hi Umair,

As you are only reading the contacts object, any HubSpot paid edition would do. For example, Sales Hub Starter and above.

Hi @HubDoPete

It would really help if you could have my app connected with some production accounts, here is a brief summary of my application.

My hubspot application simply takes permissions for contacts.read scope, because our web application needs to connect with hubspot to periodically fetch user leads. Our application tries to nurture these leads for business purposes, so with hubspot its only allows fetching contacts and then periodically fetch any new contacts that are added via cron jobs and webhooks events.

I can share my installation link just let me know, thanks again for your help.

Hi @umair_asim,

Thank you for posting to the Community! I understand that you are facing some issues with posting your app to the Hubspot Marketplace.

Can you please confirm that you meet all of the App Listing Requirements here? As well as can you confirm that you are a Super Admin?

I'd also like to tag in some Top Contributors to see if they have experienced this behavior before -- Hi @Anton and @HubDoPete have either of you seen this before? If so, how did you go about resolving?

Hi @chighsmith thanks for replying, to follow up on your questions

  • Yes, I have submitted app reviews several times, each time feedback came and I fixed the issues. The latest feedback only had the "Active Install" issue mentioned so I believe that all other requirements are met.
  • I would like to add that the app is on another account which I have direct access to, so yes I am a super admin in that account.

The reason I posted a question with this account was because I got logged out, and my client hasn't gotten back to me on 2fa yet so I assumed it would be quicker to just use my account. Thanks for helping would really appreciate a positive response.
