How to directly create and associate an attachment to a Deal via Api

Hi Team,

I've noticed that, typically, we need to first create a note that includes an attachment and then link that note to a Deal object.

Is there an option to bypass the step of creating a note and directly associate an attachment with the Deal object instead?

Hi @Kumble 👋

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to bypass the requirement to create a note with the relevant File ID set as the Note "hs_attachment_ids" property.

All the best,

Zach

Hi @Kumble and thanks for the tag @BérangèreL

The only other way to store a file in HubSpot is to store it in a file property. File properties are actually text fields that can either reference a URL where a file is stored or the ID of a file stored in HubSpot files. Thanks to this, you can actually use the Files API to upload a document and then use the ID returned in the response to update the file property on the object.

Hi @Kumble and welcome to the Community!
We are delighted to have you here!

Thanks for asking the Community!

I have checked and in all the threads, it seems that you do need a note:

- Attach file to deal record using API
- How to create and associate files with Deals?

I'd love to ask our Top Experts and some of our Community Members about this: Hi @SSharma043, @riipenadmin, @AEACGi, @zach_threadint, @Bortami and @HubSpot_Corey have you tried it without creating a note? If yes, does it work? Or do you have workarounds to help @Kumble, please?

Thanks so much and have a great day!

Best,
Bérangère
