Hello all! We are a marketing agency that works solely with credit unions in the US. We're trying to find a solution to connect their financials core systems to HubSpot. Anyone have any experience doing this? We know its possible but want to connect with people who have actually done it.
Looking to do this quickly so feel free to reach out.
Thanks for the tag @BérangèreL! Hey there @RHarveyYMC I don't have credit union clients specifically, so if you're looking to chat with someone with IRL experience, it's not me. However, I was marketing director for a mortgage bank and I've worked with a lot of clients, and been a HS user since 2010. Here's what I'd think about as you work with these clients.
The big one of course is security. Strong data security and compliance standards are required for handling member financial data. If you don't do a custom API set up, make sure you're looking for integrations that support encryption, audit logs, and have experience in regulated environments. HubSpot's Data Sync is really good.
Another thing to think about is reliability. Automated daily batch syncs with exception handling are typical from what I've seen. True real-time integrations are possible, but require buy-in from those core vendors.
If you're developing custom integrations, HubSpot’s API definitely offers robust endpoints for contact, company, and deal management, but understanding associations and workflow triggers is essential for advanced use cases. You'll also probably want to think about Custom Objects (I can think of a few like Households, Policies, and Loans).
Credit union HubSpot integrations are both proven and supported by experienced solution partners in our ecosystem, so you’re not alone. From what I've seen, there’s a growing ecosystem of experts supporting these connections and driving powerful automation. Have you joined the Partner Slack to chat more with other partners?

One option to create a smoothly integrated flow to bring the key information that you need into HubSpot, is using custom-coded actions in HubSpot Data Hub (formerly Operations Hub) workflows.
If you have Data Hub Pro or Enterprise, custom-coded workflow actions can call your Credit Union API, using a secure token saved in HubSpot as a secret. The returned data can be passed to the following workflow actions, such as updating the enrolled contact OR updating your HubSpot directly using a second token.
If it would not be appropriate to bring any Credit Union data into HubSpot, a HubSpot App Card can retrieve and display the relevant information on the HubSpot object. Use HubSpot user and team permissions to control who can see the app cards and the App Developer can do the same, to protect the display of sensitive data. We have developed a few use cases like this, for example, take a look at the Sanctions.io app which displays very sensitive data on contacts and companies.
Let us know if you need any further help. As a community we can help you to make HubSpot do what you need, smoothly and securely.
I'd love to put you in touch with Community Members who are also in the financial industry and see if they have tips for you: Hi @ERhine, @AGonzalez93 and @Bernardd do you have any insights to share with @RHarveyYMC, please?
Now, let's consult our Top Experts: Hi @Anton, @HubDoPete and @danmoyle do you and/or your customers have experience connecting Credit Unions system to HubSpot to help @RHarveyYMC, please?
Have a lovely day and thanks so much! Bérangère
