Create User Profile, Assign/Update Company Owner Via API

We'd like to create users via an API and then be able to assign/update the company owner via the API. Is this possible?

This is not possible at this time as that endpoint is read only.  If @shaebert  created an idea, you should upvote

You cannot create users via the API and the owners endpoint is read only.  This would be a good subject to add to the ideas board!

So could a workaround be to create a workflow that assigns a specific company owner based on criteria in a company property that was brought over via API?
