CMS cli tools - watch *remote* in addition to local?

Hey community!  Would like to know if theres a best practice to share about watching for changes on remote - those changes made directly in the Deisgn Manager?  

I know we can watch local files/folders, but trying to make sure local repo is notified when remote changes are detected.  Any ideas, other than ensuring no one makes any changes in the Design Manager itself?  Locking that down isnt always practable.

I think locking  the design manager folder would be considered best practice..
