Assistance Needed with Zapier Settings for Custom Field Updates in HubSpot

We are currently facing an issue with our Zapier settings and would greatly appreciate your guidance and support in resolving this matter.
Our objective is to trigger a Zap in Zapier whenever a contact is created or updated, specifically when there's a modification to a custom field's value for that contact. This Zap should then proceed to update the respective contact in Mailchimp and assign new tags accordingly.
Our current configuration involves selecting the "contact created or updated" trigger in Zapier. We have implemented a filter that checks if the value of the specified custom field has been updated, ensuring that the Zap runs the Mailchimp update for the contact only when necessary.
However, we've encountered a challenge where the "contact created or updated" trigger seems to fire more frequently than expected throughout the day. For example, we observe up to 100 triggers per day, while in reality, we only have 4 to 10 contacts being updated or created daily.
We kindly request your assistance in identifying the cause of this excessive triggering and any potential improvements to our trigger and filter setup.
We've had to manage similar problem with triggers and workflows.
Our solution was to try and listen to another event. Instead of only checking if the custom field value was updated, consider adding more conditions. For example, check if the update occurred within the last 24 hours.
