Are there any design guidelines for the timeline event icons?

Hi!

I was looking around, but couldn't find if there are any guidelines for the timeline event icons. Should the icons be simple/grayscale, matching some of the default ones? Or should it just be the company logo, with colors and all?

It would work with either, but I'm just wondering if there are any recommended guidelines on this!

Hi @manavo,

Yes, typically we recommend the file that you use meet the below criteria: 

• Have roughly square dimensions
• Have a transparent background
• Have the content in the center of the icon
• Be able to size down to 30x30 pixels
• Have a file size of 5MB or less

This is also outlined under the "Setting up a custom icon" section of our Timeline API documentation.

And how about regarding colors? The guidelines don't mention anything about grayscale vs colored. Any clues there for best practices?

Hi @manavo,

To be honest with you either grayscale or colored will suffice. From my experience I've only ever seen colored icons. I'd probably recommend color as it's going stand out and look nicer on the timeline.
