Confidentiality and ChatGPT

What kind of company information do you feel comfortable sharing with ChatGPT? --- I love using the tool to help me construct social media posts, marketing emails, sales email templates, and blog outlines (I have a different chat thread for each), but I'm careful not to share any confidential information. Still, some of my colleagues are wary of how ChatGPT may use the information I provide. I see that ChatGPT launched ChatGPT Enterprise which is "SOC 2 compliant and all conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest." Source: https://openai.com/blog/introducing-chatgpt-enterprise But for the rest of us without Enterprise, how should we think about ChatGPT and confidentiality? --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.

Without Enterprise you have to be careful, you're always feeding the IA with your input and whatever you're typing can be used for countless or other responses where you don't have any control. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.

I've been using AI as a complementary asset to my brain. Personally, I feel comfortable sharing contextual information with GPT. Although I refrain from including personal information for any company/individual I work with. Curious to see what others are doing in this case! But for fun, I asked ChatGPT to answer your question. Here's what it recommends for confidentiality: 1. Data Privacy: Avoid sharing sensitive or personal information with ChatGPT. 2. Anonymity: Understand that you have a level of anonymity when interacting with ChatGPT, but exercise caution. 3. Third-Party Services: Review the privacy policies of the platforms or services you use to access ChatGPT. 4. Responsibility: Users should be cautious, and developers must implement data security measures and be transparent about data handling. 5. Limitations: Recognize that ChatGPT has limitations in understanding context and generating appropriate responses. 6. Regulatory Compliance: If using ChatGPT professionally, ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). 6. Reporting Concerns: Report any privacy or confidentiality issues with ChatGPT to the platform or service provider for resolution. --- This post was migrated from connect.com and was originally published at an earlier date.
