Hey everyone,
I’ve been testing out different AI headshot generators lately and wanted to get some feedback from others who’ve tried them as well. So far, here are a few I’ve tested:
Headshot Pro – My #1 pick so far. Super polished output that feels professional enough for LinkedIn or corporate use. The results were consistent across different styles, which is something most tools struggle with.
BetterPic – Delivers really sharp images, especially if you want something that looks natural and close to your real self. Not quite as polished as Headshot Pro, but still strong.
Aragon AI – Similar to BetterPic in terms of realism. Works well if you want a range of styles, though some results can lean more “AI-generated” looking depending on the inputs.
Secta AI – Great for variety. You get a wider spread of styles and looks, though you’ll need to sift through to find the most professional ones.
ProPhotos – Very balanced between professional and casual. If you want headshots that don’t feel too stiff, this is a nice middle ground.
Each has its strengths, but I’m curious if there are other platforms out there that do a better job at creating natural, professional headshots without looking over-edited.
What tools have you found work best for creating headshots you’d actually use in a professional setting?
I can recommend Photo Packs AI. I got dozens of photos from an order with them and they're great. I've tried a few of these tools over the last couple of years, and to be honest they are all getting better than they were in the early days. Photo Packs AI was more affordable than some of the other options and the results were fantastic, so that's generally the one I recommend. AI photos are getting crazy good these days.
I’d add QuickAIHeadshots to your list. It’s been the most “looks like me on a good day” option I’ve tried, natural skin texture, doesn’t mangle glasses/beard lines, and the lighting stays consistent across styles. Keeper rate was higher than Aragon/Secta for me, and turnaround was quick. Tip: neutral expressions, window light, simple backgrounds = fewer uncanny rejects.
As a professional photographer (though I do less and less of it as the months go on and we take our business in other directions), I have tested a lot of them.
We found that Dreamweave produced the most realistic images, but they still weren't all that great and (at the time of testing sometime last year) had the ability to do some corrections for eyes, teeth, blemishes. You can view my sample gallery if you like: https://www.dreamwave.ai/share/uqKCGvW
Secta Labs was the second most realistic, but was still kinda terrible. Sample gallery: https://secta.ai/p/unruexav
Fotor wasn't realistic at all.
I don't recall the output we got from the others ones you listed, but we had looked into those as well.
With all of that said, I will point out that the best thing I have found recently is Nano Banana (aka Gemini 2.5 Flash). Example below with the original starting image. It's pretty freaking amazing. I was able to get it to make some slight changes while still keeping it "me".
Wow @DanielleGriffin , thanks for sharing this! Hearing your take as a photographer makes it even more interesting since you notice things most of us wouldn’t. Really appreciate you showing what worked for you. I should probably test some too. I just realized I haven’t updated my picture in like four years, haha.

You should definitely try Gemini (Nano Banana) out. It works so well and keeps you looking like you, not a weird version of you like the other AI headshot tools I have tried.
I’ve been experimenting with a few of these tools as well, and honestly Aragon AI has become my favorite AI headshot generator. I’ve been using it for the last few weeks and what I really like is how it balances realism with variety — some outputs do have that “AI-polish” depending on the inputs, but overall I’ve found it gives me consistent, professional-looking headshots I’d actually feel comfortable using on LinkedIn and client-facing profiles.
For anyone interested in trying it out, you can use the Aragon ai coupon SHOT15 at checkout — it’s tested and verified — and it knocks 15% off any of their plans. Makes it a lot easier to test the platform without paying full price.
Curious to see if anyone else here has used Aragon AI for business headshots, or if you found another tool that rivals it in terms of professional results?
