The Format Data Action feature makes it easy for you to keep a clean CRM and gives you more control over the formatting of your data. Here are a few tips to make that process easier!

Tip 1. Tell your workflow what to do with the formatted data

It’s important to remember that the Format Data Action will format the property you’ve selected, but then you have to choose what to do with that formatted data. For example, if you want to ensure that all last names are capitalized, you can add a Format Data action to a workflow:

But just having that action doesn’t update the last name in your contacts. To do this, you will need to use the Copy Property Value action and tell it to copy the value from “Format Data”.

You can then select which property type and property to update. 

You’ve just automated the capitalization of all last names in your contact records! You’re one step closer to a clean CRM. 

Tip 2. Refer to the Hubl Developer Documentation

While most of the format options are simple and straightforward, a few of them require you to use our HubL templating language.You can learn more about the HubL language here. Just find the format you’re looking for and ensure that you’re using the correct formatting.
