Speeding Up Dotdigital Engagement Cloud Syncs?

Anyone know a workaround to speed up the process of Dotdigital Engagement Cloud syncs? It takes us forever because of having to scan through all the excluded data. We're dealing with millions of contacts and it's just not practical. Started a sync at 5:30 PM yesterday, didn’t wrap until about 2:00 AM so just ended up exporting the data manually.

Has anyone figured out how to speed this up? Maybe skipping the excluded data entirely? Or are there any resorurces on using custom coded workflows in OpsHub?
