What's your revenue readiness process or forcing function?
I want to talk about forcing functions💪 or revenue readiness for our product.
My co-founder and I decided to list our product on the marketplacePitchGround. Well for our business, at this time, this listing acted as a forcing function⏩⏩⏩.
Here are some important things we accomplished with this function❗
We built a complete self-serve flow for sign-ups 👐
We enabled automatic billing plans after trial periods 🧾
We enabled redemption of promo/ coupon codes on the UI🏷️
We fine-tuned our onboarding to make it smoother👌
The backend was not automated to kickstart the data science-based segments upon successful customer onboarding📊
We created a support/ticket handling process⛑️
We incorporated a simple feedback form mechanism🗣️
We built additional app integrations🔌
Quite a few backend and front end tweaks on the application⚙️🔧
We fine-tuned our website to reflect the support, help, FAQ, and other details🔗
We are set up to monitor sales metrics💰
We are now working on publishing a public roadmap and implementing a changelog
We built a marketing video explaining the problem statement and also customized our demo a bit🎥
😰😥😰😥
That's quite a lot of tasks we accomplished within20 daysof the listing period deadline, and that was some realheavy lifting🏋️♂️🏋️♂️🏋️♂️.
This process of listing on the marketplace drove a new understanding in the teams on working fast, iterating, and collaborating 🤝. Needless, to say there were so many other lessons.
My conclusion a launch date or a public commitment or a listing are a few examples of these forcing functions.
As an early startup founder, I recommend identifying and committing💍 to a forcing function🛠️.
