Revenue Waterfal: How to Show Revenue Coming in Each Month

Hi! 

We're trying to get a very specific type of visualization from the deals + line items and I am wondering if anyone has solved this problem before. 

The current state of the forecast only looks at the close date for revenue coming in. So say I close a 12m deal of 12k it shows the total amount coming in at the close date. While this is great, we would also like to be able to see when the revenue is actually coming in. 

What I am looking for is a table that has each deal and the revenue that deal has for each month. So taken the example above, I would want to see that deal with 1k revenue in each month. Preferably multiplied by the forecast percentage, so say if it's at 50% it would show 500 for each month. Given the lineitems can be broken down by month I have a feeling its possible but I can't seem to get it to work. 

Anyone had a stab at this without using custom objects?

Have you tried out the reports in the Sales Analytics tool yet?
There is a Deal Pipeline Waterfall report that may help with your goal. The report uses the date that the deal was moved into a won/lost pipeline stage, or the Close date property if the deal is in an open stage and the Close date is in the future.
