Here's what you missed during last week's AMA w/ Connor Jeffers on RevOps and Operations Hub

Hi everyone!

Last week we had Connor Jeffers, Founder, and CEO of Aptitude 8, join our community for an AMA on Operations Hub and his Operations Hub Playbook.

Q: What is Operations Hub and why is it so exciting?
A: The reason why Operations Hub is so significant is that it removes all barriers. You can now really automate essentially anything directly from Hubspot and you can now write code entirely inside of HubSpot which really pushes the boundaries of what the system is capable of even further.

And what we're most excited about is that now you can now write code in HubSpot and leverage that with declarative automations in all features that people are using today. That really expands Hubspot to be a true platform that you can really customize to achieve whatever your goals are.

Q: When you got access to the beta, what was one of the first things that you wanted to try out?

A: Some of the first things that we really looked at is how can we take a triggered workflow action from Hubspot – which could be you know, a ticket being created or a deal being closed – and push that information to another system or sync it to multiple systems all within the workflow action.

Another thing that got us really excited is seeing how easy it is now to sync contacts. Because before, when we work with customers those can be really daunting large-scale projects. We had to build those data connectors and maintain them ourselves. It's also exciting because of what the future holds. HubSpot doesn't live on the side anymore. It's now a hub for all the other tools in the ecosystem.

Q: What can operations Hub do for smaller businesses now?

A: Some of the basic starter functions are really helpful, like content syndication and standardized information. Some of the starter functionality will allow you to clean up that data programmatically, without needed to know any code at all.

And for anybody who is coming into this thinking, "I don't have a developer, I don't have someone who knows how to write javascript", you can still use Operations Hub and greatly benefit from it. You don't need to hire a full-time developer.  There is no additional knowledge needed because the code lives inside of HubSpot. It doesn't require someone to maintain a server or to manage the API framework. It's just stored in HubSpot and that script is something you can leverage and reuse over and over. So all you basically need is a contractor for a couple of hours to write you some code.

Q: What does Operations Hub mean from a RevOps perspective?

A: It automates away a lot of the pain points that current Ops professionals are having to deal with on a daily basis. For instance, data hygiene and data cleansing. With Data Quality Automation, data can be standardized and cleaned up automatically. This gives a lot of time back to operators because now they don't have to manually export that data into a sheet, do the cleanup and then reupload it into the CRM.

A second thing is that with the new integration and code actions., you're no longer reliant on creating processes and requiring people to go through that, hoping they don't make any mistakes. For instance, whenever a deal is marked "closed", send an automated email to the finance team to create all the billing details send an automated email to the fulfillment team to go create the project in their project management system. With Operations Hub, you can use APIs from those other systems to go and push that data over there automatically sync that information automatically.

No longer RevOps teams need to think about all the different tools and the ways to stitch them together with duct tape and glue. Now they can power those workflows directly from Hubspot. Operations Hub really gives them a tool inside the rest of their stack to automate the functionality that today they are doing manually.
