First of all, each member of the marketing team is required to go through the HubSpot Academy training, which keeps them informed on the different tools available to them, and how each tool is designed to be used. In doing so, we are able to comb through each part of our website, making sure we’re putting relevant and optimized information that will set us up for success, while also taking in any edits or notes the HubSpot CMS “Optimization” tool gives us. Second, we ensure SEO stays at the front of our minds in terms of how everything is designed, layout, and wording. In doing so, we create a professional and positive experience for the customer, without losing them with too many words or too little information. It’s a fun experience for everyone!
Well said.
To keep content creation process at the top of the minds of users is first to make sure that content is relavent. We as SEO specialists have a lot of adjusting to do based on the behaviors of our audiences with that content. To name a few , start by doing a website audit checking the core vitals ( URL struture, HTML embedded is the correct places, XML sitemaps) followed by website overall struture. A popular word my team often uses is it " depends" becuase it does. This is not a one size fits all for any business. The core of our jobs is to understand that we do not make decisions, we test them, and the user beahviors finalizes what we finally decide to do base on data.
Both technical and on-page SEO are top of the list, technical being first as it not always accessible and or easy to understand by an average person.
On page being second as it is easy once you know what to do.
For a content to rank top and gain maximum engagement and visibility, the content must be relevant and the title very engaging.
I’m learning about it now.

This is a very helpful recap of a top-level checklist. Thanks for linking to these great resources as well! To a beginner, the introduction of SEO (what it is and how it works) can be overwhelming--even daunting. Breaking it down into bite-sized chunks in the form of a checklist is just what I needed!
This is a very helpful recap of a high level checklist. Thanks for linking to these great resources too! For a beginner, the introduction of SEO (what it is and how it works) is extremely intimidating. I needed to smash it into bite-sized pieces in the form of a checklist!
With so many factors to consider, how do you ensure each piece of content is optimized for success?
Truthfully - by reviewing each piece of content on a continuous basis. SEO like my website is not a ‘one and done’ and because soooo many sites have this mentality we get the distinct honor of educating our clients, contacts, prospects, and vendors on how to be continuously reviewing this!
What makes it to the top of your SEO checklist when creating a piece of content?
How shareable is this for my readers? my clients? How many of the people accessing this content will do something with the information in it? What will be the outcome of their interaction?
Bonus: How does your team ensure SEO remains top-of-mind throughout the content creation process?
We make it a part of the process of creation, SEO is not an after thought, it’s a before, during, and again thought.

We have a very finite market. This might narrow our keywords more than other industries/markets. Beyond that, our checklist is the list presented on the HubSpot Optimize tab.
Can I get my practice modules rebooted and some help? I tried live chat and that didn’t work. I am trying to build the website to get my certification currently but I am running into issues and having permission issues as well.
Every checklist must depend of each type of content. SEO for home page is shortly different than optimizing a blogpost.
