We started to obtain SMS opt-in on our lead form submissions. The opt-in is saved to a property and then that property’s value is used to trigger a workflow to change the records communication subscription for SMS in Hubspot. However, the workflow is throwing this error whenever it actions a contact and I am not sure why

No email or number is present for the contact

Hey @NCondon22, thank you for posting in our Community!

This error occurs because the workflow needs an email or phone number to manage the SMS communication subscription. Please ensure your contacts have this information before they enter the workflow. You may need to adjust your lead forms to capture these details or add conditions to your workflow to verify these fields are filled.

To our top experts @TomM2 and @DanielSanchez do you have any recommendations for @NCondon22 matter?

Thank you,

Pam

Thank you for your response. We currently recieve both email and phone on the lead form, and I checked the preformance log and the records run through the workflow did have data in those fields. I also manually enrolled a contact with all the needed data and it still gave me that error.

We are having the same issue - there’s an email address and a phone number, and the workflow failed several times. How do we fix this?

For my issue it ended up being that the phone number needed to be formatted with the +1 country code for US phone numbers. Once that was fixed the error went away and the workflow worked as expected

I am having this exact same issue. I have even made certain to put formatting validation on the phone number address field on the form. Same error.
