Object A and B are associated. A is Mother and B is Child.

When Property X of A is updated Property X in B will also be Updated

This can be easly done by using the “onchange” trigger on Object A and copy value.

However when I create object B I also want Property X to be set to A’s value. However, the “copy value” workflow option only works from triggered Object to associated Object and not from associated Object to triggered object. Especially when there is only one Mother Object.

Isnt this a massive oversight? Is there a know workaround or am I just confused?

Not necessarily. The object A workflow can re-enroll records of the object type A when the ‘Number of associated [object A]’ changes. For some objects this exists already (e.g. the company object has a ‘Number of associated contacts’).

In other words, you can re-trigger a workflow that copies from company to contact when the number of associated contacts changes.

Best regards!

This only works on standard objects. Assosations to Costum Objects do not have those numbers calculated, hence this workaround doesnt work here.

Hi [@BHörmann](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/410730),

It does work – these counting properties, if they don’t exist, can be created using calculation properties: [Create calculation and rollup properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/create-calculation-properties)

The calculation method would be ‘Count’.

Let me know if you need further guidance here.
