Why does the IN operator return no results in HubSpot?

If I make the following call to https://api.hubapi.com/crm/v3/objects/line_items/search it returns: total: 0 results: []

{

"limit": 100,

"after": "0",

"filterGroups": \[

    {

        "filters": \[

            {

                "operator": "IN",

                "propertyName": "name",

                "values": \["MS-12-C03M6B (22827)", "MVA-C (22836)"]

            }

        ]

    }

],

"properties": \[

    "name",

    "hs\_product\_id",

    "quantity",

    "price"

],

"sorts": \[

    "name"

]

}

But searching like this will return each one individually.

{

"after": "0",

"filterGroups": \[

    {

        "filters": \[

            {

                "operator": "EQ",

                "propertyName": "name",

                "value": "MVA-C (22836)"

            }

        ]

    }

],

"limit": 100,

"properties": \[

    "name",

    "hs\_product\_id",

    "quantity",

    "price"

],

"sorts": \[

    "name"

]

}

Am I using the wrong operator? Or is it something else? Thanks for the help.

@SBasile - just suspecting here that property “name” is not an ennumerated list type.

For the OR functionality you will likely need to use a couple of filter structures in one filtergroup. The operator to use in ech one would be ‘CONTAINS_TOKEN’.

Good luck!

Steve

Hey@SBasile

The IN operator works with both enumeration and string properties, but when used on a string property, all values in the values array must be lowercase: CRM Search API - HubSpot docs .

In your case I would try try concatenating multiple queries and use the “CONTAINS_TOKEN” operator:

{
 "filterGroups": [
 {
 "filters": [
 {
 "propertyName": "name",
 "operator": "CONTAINS_TOKEN",
 "value": "MS-12-C03M6B (22827)"
 }
 ]
 },
 {
 "filters": [
 {
 "propertyName": "name",
 "operator": "CONTAINS_TOKEN",
 "value": "MVA-C (22836)"
 }
 ]
 }
 ]
}'

The request body above creates an “or” statement and uses the contains_token operator to search in string properties.

Hope this gets you moving!

I think I found the issue. The IN and NOT_IN operators require the values to be in lowercase.

Thanks to all for assisting.
