When following the `Start local development` segment of the Quickstart guide , there will be a prompt to install the app with the `Connect App` button. I already have the `App Marketplace` permission granted to my account.
However, clicking the `Connect App` button yields an error popup with the following message: “Something went wrong while installing the app. Please try again or contact support”.
Poking around with my browser’s developer tools for potential server-side errors, it seems the endpoint responsible for connecting the app gives the following response:
{
"type": "internalError",
"internalError": {
"type": "PUBLIC_EXCEPTION",
"message": "Authorization failed because you don't have permissions to authorize the scopes required by the app. Please contact your super admin to get the necessary permissions.",
"chirpErrorType": "HUBSPOT_PUBLIC_EXCEPTION"
},
"correlationId": "..."
}
Is this response expected? If so, aside from the `App Marketplace` permission specified by the `Connect App` prompt page, what other permissions could I possibly need for following through with the Quickstart guide?
From my understanding, in this case the user installing the app would need to be a Super Admin or have the App Marketplace Access permission and access to all the scopes the app requires. I’m not seeing scopes/permisisons listed in the Quickstart Guide that you’ve linked above, but I would presume you may require basic CRM scopes e.g. contacts etc.
In this case, the quickest solution could be to request Super Admin access, but tagging in some of our Top Contributors to see if they have any tips and tricks on this!
haven’t seen this and I might be wrong, but I’d assume it’s a bit like this:
if the user account you’re trying to install this app with doesn’t have access to, let’s say Contacts, but the app requires access to Contacts, this user can’t install the app as he couldn’t use it.
Thank you for your insights. As a workaround, what resolved my issue was indeed granting/using super admin, which seems to hold all the necessary permissions to complete the linked Quickstart guide.
Would be very helpful if the Quickstart guide could be tweaked to more explicitly specify the required permissions to finish the starter project without super admin powers.
