Why are deals creating an auto generated blank associated contact?

Hi all,

Recently I’ve experienced what seems like a bug where deals are auto generating a blank contact in the ‘Associated Contact’. Has anyone else run into this? This has happend to about 1/3 of my open deals. I haven’t removed or deleted any previously associated contacts.

Any ideas on why this is happening and how to stop it? See below for an example.

I don’t believe these deals started out with having any associated contacts, only an associated company. Is that the problem? Is Hubspot auto generating associated contacts if the field is left blank? If so, I can’t imagine this is by design and has to be a bug. Also what’s strange is that not every deal without an associated contact is auto generating a blank contact. Some will remain blank as I intended.

Hi @CCaffrey,

When you open one of these contacts, what’s their Original source, Original source drill-down 1 and Original source drill-down 2? (Click View all properties in the left sidebar to find them. Please share a screenshot of what you’re seeing.)

Shoot, I deleted all the blank contacts. I’ll have to try again once
another blank contact is created.
