I’ve been reviewing HubSpot’s SEO recommendations recently, and while many are straightforward, I’m curious which ones have had the biggest real-world impact.
For those managing websites with HubSpot:
- Which SEO recommendation led to the most noticeable improvement?
- Was it fixing missing metadata, internal linking, page speed, topic clusters, or something else?
- Did you see improvements in rankings, organic traffic, or click-through rates after implementing the changes?
- Are there any HubSpot SEO suggestions you usually ignore because they haven’t made much difference?
I’d love to hear what has worked best based on your own experience.
Hi @ApexSaad,
I love this and honestly the answers probably vary a lot depending on your site’s starting point, which makes it a great one for the community to weigh in on!
From what we hear consistently from HubSpot users, a few tend to move the needle the most:
Metadata fixes are usually the quickest win: missing or duplicate title tags and meta descriptions are low-hanging fruit that can improve CTR pretty noticeably without much heavy lifting.
Topic clusters are slower to show results but tend to be the most impactful long-term. Building out pillar pages with strong internal linking gives Google a much clearer picture of your site’s authority on a given subject, and users often report meaningful organic traffic growth a few months in.
Page speed is one that’s easy to deprioritize but harder to ignore, especially on mobile. HubSpot’s CMS handles a lot of this automatically, but image optimization in particular is something that often still needs manual attention.
As for recommendations that get ignored, alt text flags tend to be one that people let slide, though it’s worth noting that’s also an accessibility consideration beyond just SEO.
That said, everyone’s site is different, and these are generalizations — would love to hear from others in the community what’s actually moved the needle for their specific setup. Anyone seeing big wins recently from a particular fix?

Hi @ApexSaad,
From my experience, I wouldn’t say there is one HubSpot SEO recommendation that makes the biggest difference for every website.
It really depends on what is holding the site back.
If I had to prioritize, I’d start with the fundamentals:
Internal linking → helps the search engine to discover related content and understand the relationship between pages.
Content/topic coverage → Creating useful, closely related content around a topic
Metadata → helps the search engines to understand the page
Page speed/Core Web Vital ->Small speed improvements don’t necessarily produce a dramatic ranking change.
Image alt tag → Describe the image
H-tag series - A page should contain a clear hierarchy of H-tags
I also try not to treat every SEO recommendation as something that must be fixed immediately.
I’d look at the severity of the issue, make the change, and then monitor organic traffic, rankings and CTR in Google Search Console and Analytics over time. By doing these gradually, you can compare the data before and after making a change rather than assuming the recommendation worked.
These changes simply looked good on an SEO checklist.
Thank you
