What's your creative process?

Peace and greetings. My process has been, and remains, very similar to the process described in the video. I have a tremendously high degree of kuriosity, therefore, I read a wide variety of articles (gathering materials). I create Google News Alerts about a variety of topics. I read one or two articles about these various topics, take notes, do additional research on somethings and rest. I refrain from putting myself under the pressure to know it all at one time. I take my time and incrementally increase my knowledge about a few things of interest each month. For example, one month I may be kurious about kuriosity, police car chases, knowing your rights when interacting with the police, and ambiguous loss. I may from time to time ask a family member or a friend a few questions about one or all of the things I’ve been reading about, then I chill. Eventually I will generate an idea from these disparate topics. I keep a notepad, a small post it note pad, and a burner phone with me at all times. I use the burner phone to record my thoughts if an idea comes to me while I’m driving. I also have a jumbo post it note pad in my living room. I use that to write my ideas and stick it to the wall so I can stand back and look at it. This process has helped me to improve the way I resolve konflicts, kammunicae more effectively, and to know thyself, etc.

Lack of sleep helps me come up with new ideas. It’s not great for executing them, but I think differently when I haven’t slept well. This is not to say it’s a good strategy. It’s just something I know about myself.

As a poet, I’m naturally making connections between ideas on an ongoing basis. To sort them out, it helps me to set up structures and timelines.

I’m currently working on my creative process now. I have been reading more fiction, joining book clubs that introduce me to books I would have never read before, and trying to read a lot more each day. I’m also reading books about creativity. So far I’ve read The War of Art and now I’m reading Keep Going.

what helps me be creative and come up with new ideas might actually work for everyone else.

For me personally it’s all about balance. Getting the right amount of sleep, putting time into taking care of yourself outside of your career and your family, give yourself a break when needed, and remaining in a niche that you feel overwhelmed with ideas in.

I personally have four dogs and are currently planning an affordable wedding under 10k. The content ideas for my dogs come natural and are never ending. Not to mention who doesn’t want to save some money on their wedding!?!?!

I also have ADHD so honestly just telling siri to make a reminder of whatever it is, I’m talking about.

I simply just stop trying so hard to generate the idea and do nothing.

Sometimes I go to my idea bank (where I drop all ideas I have.)

After this class, I’ll work on giving in to my curiosity and consuming a lot of content. Though I knew reading wide is awesome, I thought it’d be a waste of time to consume content when I have work to do.

A framework I’ll incorporate now is that I’ll schedule time in-between my workday to consume content (one’s I’ve saved or topics I’m simply curious about.)

Then I’ll take a few mins pause to see how they can all connect to whatever project I’m working on. Write down whatever comes to me, whether it makes sense or not.

Then stop trying and go on with my day.

Then I wait for the eureka moment.

what do you think of this framework?:upside_down_face:

I get awesome ideas during chores too! This has reduced my dislike for chores.:face_holding_back_tears:

I usually get new ideas when I’m not thinking about content or creativity at all, for example while driving while brushing fortunately i WhatsApp it to myself and later on emphasize on it

I like to use AI to help me brainstorm. I can just talk it through. If the chat or idea gets derailed I can simply review the full chat history to drive it back on track.

One thing I do to come up with new ideas is look at what my target audience is asking or struggling with. I also analyze high-performing content from competitors and industry leaders to identify common themes and gaps that I can address in my own way.

To make this repeatable, I maintain an idea bank where I regularly add questions, trends, and content inspirations. Then, during a weekly planning session, I prioritize ideas based on relevance, business goals, and audience interest. This creates a consistent framework that I can follow myself and easily share with anyone I’m collaborating with.

I usually get my best ideas at night while trying to fall asleep. I also find inspiration while scrolling through :upside_down_face: social media, watching videos, and occasionally during my classes when something sparks a new thought.:innocent:

I actually started by leaving sticky notes everywhere. Then, it wasn’t organised, so now I have this Word doc I have saved on my desktop. I include the date and continue writing from where I left off. with one condition, no take-backsies. So as long as I remember a keyword to Ctrl+F, I’m good, and I can revisit similar thoughts I have documented in the past; that way, if I want to cook something up, i know where to start, hehe

My creative process for coming up with dishes and new menu ideas is to think of the basic elements a plate has to have. Then break each on into the ingredients i would like to use and conect them by imagening the taste and the way it would look.

For this it helps a lot to draw how it would look and even colour it.

Finally, try the recipie and see how it turns out

I can definitely relate to using household chores to generate new Ideas

To help me come up with new ideas, I most of the times, watch or listing podcast, advertsing thoery behind it related to the idea that I want to come up with. Also, when everywhere seems void, I take a stroll/walk sometimes…

My creative process is simple: I read books, articles, or watch videos to spark ideas. Then I write a rough draft and refine it as I go. When I need to clear my head, I take a long walk—it usually helps me come back with a fresh perspective.

One strategy I use to generate ideas is immersing myself in the relevant subject. For example, if I needed to create a miniseries for a coffee company, I would thoroughly research both the company and the broader world of coffee. I would turn this strategy into a repeatable framework by making research a required step in my content creation process.

I usually get ideas when doing mundane chores. Having that sense of peace and quiet helps me think clearly

I usually explore trending topics, analysis competitor, and use Ai tools for inspiration. I follow the same process everytime to generate and organize content ideas efficiently.

i think watching other people idea helps me alot

For me, research/gathering raw material is top-tier. I need to be well-informed about a topic before I even think about curating content. Once that’s done, I rest my mind. Obsessing over creating content can really disrupt creative inspiration and the flow of thoughts.

And the Eureka moment hits when you least expect it. I have a habit of writing it down so that I have more than 1 idea to choose the best out of them.
