What is the default attribution model hubspot uses when passing revenue back into Google ads?

Hello community,

I’m trying to work out what the default attribution model is that hubspot uses when it pushes data from hubspot back into Google ads. From looking at both platforms my contact values over the last 30 days match when looking at first web session but the revenue values match when look at first form submission so i’m not clear what method is being used.

I can see loads of information about how to set up different attribution reports but how do I find which attribution model is being used by default?

Hi @JGrant2, I hope that you are well!
Great question, thanks for asking the Community!
Just to clarify, are you looking into “Marketing”/“Ads”? Or did you create an attribution report yourself under “reporting”/“reports”?
If you created a report, did you select the contact create option, deal create option or revenue option? I believe it’s revenue option but just to be sure.
The more info, screenshots (without sensitive/confidential information), and details you can provide, the better the Community can assist.
First, I’d like to share this article for information: Ads attribution in HubSpot.
I also wanted to invite a couple of subject matter experts to this conversation: Hi @BukunmiOdetayo, @karstenkoehler and @Jonno_Price do you have insights to share with @JGrant2, please?
Also, if anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation :slightly_smiling_face:
Thank you so much :glowing_star: and have a fantastic day!

Thanks for the reply @BérangèreL!

Perhaps my question wasn’t very clear - I meant looking under marketing > ads.

I can see the numbers in the marketing > ads report change when the attribution model is changed but what I am trying to work out is which of these attribution models gets used to push data back out into the Google ads platform.

For example, this is the default data I see for the last 30 days under marketing > ads with first form submission attribution selected.

However, these are the numbers I see within the Google ads platform when looking at the last 30 days. I can’t get this Google ads number to match any of the selected attribtion models under marketing > ads.

I’m trying to work out how the conversion credit is being assigned when it gets pushed back into the Google ads platform. Below is how the conversion is set up within Google ads, which says it’s on data driven attribution but i’m not sure if that is the correct attribution model or if hubspot uses something else to assign conversion credit before it reaches Google ads.

Many thanks,

Jen

Hi @JGrant2, I hope that you are well!
Thank you for the additional information and screenshots!
So, Google Ads and HubSpot are 2 different systems that work with 2 different methods.
It is important to note that the conversions tracked by HubSpot and Google Ads may not match and should not be directly compared.
This is because the definition and window for conversions can vary between the two platforms, resulting in differences in the data.
Google Ads categorizes conversions under “network conversions”, which may not align with HubSpot’s conversion tracking.

Additionally, the revenue associated with influenced deals in HubSpot Ads tool is directly tied to the number of influenced contacts, so the revenue will also vary from Google Ads.
Here is an article about this “HubSpot analytics and Google Analytics don’t match”.
I would recommend connecting with HubSpot Technical Support, as Support is included in your subscription and they will be able to provide real-time assistance for this matter, including hopping on a screenshare if necessary to review the detailed information.
Thank you and have a great day!
