What Are Your Experiences with the Cvent Integration in HubSpot?

What are your experiences with integrating CVENT for event management?
My company is trying to decide between this and another integration, and I don’t have much information on this integration.

Hey @MBarnhisel, thank you for posting in our Community!

CVENT integrates well with HubSpot (Cvent Hubspot Integration), allowing you to sync event data like registrations and attendance into your CRM. This helps with tracking engagement and follow-ups.

Feel free to share more about your specific goals, and I’d be happy to offer additional insights!

Kindly,

Pam

If you’ve already purchased a subscription, you’ll likely realize that the field mapping is unfortunately very limited. I may be feeling a bit frustrated because I’ve connected Cvent with other enterprise-focused MAPs before, and those integrations were far more robust and flexible.

I’m currently setting it up with HubSpot, and so far I’ve identified two main downsides:

1. Dropdown field mapping limitations
Cvent fields cannot be mapped to HubSpot dropdown properties, even when both fields are the same type in each system. I’m unsure why this limitation exists in HubSpot—especially considering that even within HubSpot, copying property values from one type (e.g., text) to another (e.g., dropdown) is not always supported.

My current plan is to create custom code that copies the text field value into a dropdown property, though I’m not sure whether this will work. If I’m missing something in the setup, please let me know.

2. Contact-only mapping limitation
Cvent fields can only be mapped to contact properties in HubSpot. This is a significant limitation, as I typically use custom objects to store additional contact or company information (such as event details in this case). That’s exactly what custom objects are meant for.

For example, if you collect event-specific questions in a registration form and want to trigger follow-up emails based on those responses from previous events—such as asking attendees who attended a specific session last year whether they’re interested in attending again—this information typically gets lost because it’s stored in contact properties that get overwritten over time. Creating lists for this is not the best practice.

Again, if I’m missing something or if there’s a non-complex workaround, please let me know.

I like HubSpot, but I have to say it presents several challenges for administrators, particularly when it comes to data management.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
