What are the best ways to generate leads for a local service business?

I’m working on improving lead generation for a local service security system borderless Solutions business and would like to learn from other businesses using HubSpot.

What strategies have worked best for generating qualified local leads through content, SEO, email marketing and CRM follow-ups?

I’m particularly interested in strategies that work for service-based businesses rather than e-commerce.

Hello @smarttect ,

For local service businesses, I’ve seen the best results come from combining local SEO, educational content, lead capture, and fast follow-up workflows in HubSpot

  1. Focus on local SEO rather than broad keywords. Instead of targeting general terms like “security systems,” create content around location-specific searches.

  2. Service-based businesses often generate qualified leads through educational content.

3. Use landing pages with strong conversion offers

  1. Automate lead nurturing in HubSpot

  2. Prioritize response time

Thank you,

One thing I’d add is that for local service businesses, I’ve had better results when I stop treating “SEO traffic” and “lead generation” as two separate things.

On a local service site I’ve been working on, broad traffic hasn’t necessarily been the most useful traffic. The pages that make more sense from a lead perspective are the ones built around a specific problem or service someone is already looking for.

For example, instead of putting everything on one general services page, I’d separate the main services and answer the questions people usually have before contacting the business: what the service includes, what it costs, what areas are covered, what happens during the visit, and any limitations.

I’d also pay close attention to Search Console once the pages start getting impressions. Sometimes a page is showing for searches that look relevant on the surface but have completely different intent. That can tell you whether you need to adjust the page rather than simply trying to get more traffic.

For a security system business, I’d probably build around individual needs such as installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, monitoring, or whatever services you actually provide, and then support those pages with useful content answering the questions customers ask before buying.

After that, the CRM side becomes much more useful because the person entering the follow-up sequence already came in through something closely related to what they need.

I’d be interested to know whether most of your current leads are coming from organic search, referrals, or paid traffic. That would probably change where I’d focus first.
