Hi Isabel, I’m Basit, a complete newbie in sales. Just started a few months ago doing outreach through Facebook. Do you have any tips for a newbie like me?

If you’re just getting started with sales outreach in HubSpot, I’d recommend focusing on personalization rather than sending the same message to everyone. Keep your contact properties organized so you can segment your audience and send more relevant emails. HubSpot’s email templates, snippets, and task reminders can also help you stay consistent. Finally, monitor metrics like open rates and reply rates, and keep refining your approach based on what works best.
Hi @Basit ,
One thing that’s helped me is treating the follow-up as just as important as the first outreach. Sequences are great for keeping follow-ups consistent, but they’re even more effective when you pair them with a quick review of the contact’s recent activity. If someone has opened your email multiple times, revisited your website, or engaged with your content, that’s often a good signal to send a more personal follow-up instead of waiting for the next scheduled step.
In my experience, consistent follow-up and small improvements to your messaging tend to outperform simply increasing the volume of outreach.
Welcome to the Community @Basit! And thank you for the tag @Berangere
And welcome to sales! A few months in is still very early, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to have it all figured out yet.
A couple things I’d keep in mind based on my experience working with sales teams over the years:
Start by getting really clear on who you’re trying to reach. The more specific you are, the easier everything else gets.
Don’t rely on just one channel. Facebook can be a great starting point, but sales usually works better when you mix in email, calls, LinkedIn, referrals, or even community conversations.
Focus more on starting conversations than “pitching.” People usually respond better when they feel understood than when they feel sold to right away. I know I do!
Keep your messages short, human, and relevant. A simple, direct note usually beats a long sales script.
Follow up. A lot. Most people don’t reply the first time, and that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not interested.
Track what’s working. Pay attention to which messages, channels, and types of people get the best response, then do more of that.
Be patient with yourself. Sales is a skill, and like any skill, you build it by reps, reflection, and consistency.
One thing I’ve learned is that the best salespeople aren’t always the smoothest talkers. They’re often the ones who are curious, helpful, and consistent.
If I were in your shoes, I’d keep using Facebook, but I’d also start building a simple multi-channel process so you’re not depending on just one place to get responses.
Hope that helps!
