Website impact of switching from HubSpot Starter to Free Plan

Hello,

I’m a new HubSpot user and am currently considering building a website using the Starter plan. Before I proceed, I have a few important questions I couldn’t find clear answers to:

  1. If I build a website using HubSpot’s Starter plan, what will happen to my website if I cancel the subscription or downgrade to the Free plan? (Will the website remain live and publicly accessible? What features or content would become limited or unavailable?
  2. If I decide to migrate my website to another platform in the future, what are my options? Can I export my site content, including pages, templates, or blog posts? Are there any limitations or tools available to assist with migration?

I’d appreciate your guidance on these questions before I make a decision on committing to the platform.

Thank you.

Hi @SBogoyska

Thanks for reaching out!

When downgrading to the Free plan or Cancelling your Subscription here’s what happens:

  • Your existing website and blog pages will remain live, but you’ll need to reduce your page count to fit the free plan limits before you can publish or edit content.
  • You will lose access to your customer HubSpot domain, your content will be live on the domain for 90days after which static content will move to a default domain and any dynamic content will be removed.
  • HubSpot branding will appear on your blog posts.
  • You won’t be able to create new blog tags or authors, though you can continue using the existing ones.
  • If you have used a custom domain you will still be able to use it for website, landing and blog pages but not for knowledge base or emails

For Migration

  • You cant export the full website pages or templates for use on another platform, Instead of which you must copy and recreate page content manually elsewhere
  • Blogs can be exported as .csv or excel files which you can use to import into some external blogging platforms
  • Images and Files must be manually downloaded from HubSpot file manager
  • Templates and custom layouts cannot be exported and the designs will have to be rebuilt in your new platform.
  • HubSpot doesnt provide full automated site export
