I was wondering if it’s possible to automate the creation of a website in CMS? Theme templates can contain content but creating website pages and the navigation menu is a manually process. Is there a way to import a complete site that doesn’t already exist on another platform?

Thanks,

Terry McMillan

Hi @tmcmillan99,

could you please clarify what you mean by “… that doesn’t already exist on another platform?”

moving a page from one system to another one(in this case HubSpot) is almost never an automated process since every system/CMS got it’s own syntax and specifications.

However, if you want to automate a migration from a system to HubSpot in some way you can take a look at the [pages API](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api/cms/pages).

**Note:** This requires a lot of preperation. For instance you have to create all of your templates before using the pages API, get all of your existing pages as a JSON file(s), clean the existing content from unneaded code-snippets, move all of your design-assets like images/downloads ideally to the HubSpot file-manager, update all content links…

So you have to gauge if it’s worth to automate or just recreate your pages manually. From my experience it can be quicker to move pages manually.

Also - if you have [HubDB](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/cms/data/hubdb)(available in Marketing Hub Enterprise; CMS Hub Professional and Enterprise) you can create [dynamic pages](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/cms/guides/dynamic-pages/hubdb).

But you have to keep the [HubDB limitations](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/cms/data/hubdb#hubdb-technical-limits) in mind.

best,

Anton

@Anton Thanks for the reply and info. What I meant by that statement was that the site didn’t already existed on another platform like Wordpress and would be migrated to Hubspot. My question is regarding a brand new site with all of the site content already contained in the templates. Similar to the template demo content you see in a marketplace theme.

As you mentioned, it might be faster to just manually create all the pages as well as the navigation menu, however, I wanted to at least explore my options and see if any sort of automation was available. Just looking to speed up or automate the roll out process to help reduce time and expense.

Thanks,

Terry
