I have built a website through hubspot hwoever, although my domain is domain.co.uk and redirected through www.domain.co.uk, when i publish the page then search it in my browser it will only load if it has /en-gb/ at the end of the url. I dont want this to happen but i can;t figure out how to stop it?
Hi @MBerkshire you’ll want to update your language settings under Content > Domains & URLs > Language Settings to make sure you aren’t using the “use prefix in slug” option:
Jennifer,
I have the exact same issue and I have gone throught the documentation several times and cannot get the page to load. Same as the OP, my domain is https://avarenventures.com/ which is not loading (404 Error via HS) or redirecting to the English version of the page https://avarenventures.com/en-us/. Cloudflare is my domain registrar and HS automatically configured the DNS settings.
I have tried everything, including disconnecting the domain, clearing out all the DNS entries, clear cookies, etc.
I really think there is an issue on the HS side. This seems like a bug or UX issue… This should not be this hard to setup.
@dgalant1 have you also confirmed that you didn’t add the language on the individual page in the Settings > Language here:
This should be blank or it will add the language slug at the page level.
Thank you for all your help, it was the language on the page settings however, prior to this, turnin goff the prefix didnt remove it. it only dissapeared when i changed the page settings.
@ETwantstoknow if you changed your language settings AFTER you connected your domain, you’ll need to follow these steps to trigger the server to recognize the changes (the language settings changes are likely pending in the server and are relying on the cache until then, which is why you see the 404 error since it was never live).
1 - open your home page, change the URL to something never used, like /jennifer
2 - publish the home page
3 - wait 2-3 minutes and verify that /jennifer is live
4 - unpublish /jennifer completely
5 - remove the /jennifer from the slug
6 - publish the page with no page slug
7 - wait 2-3 minutes again
8 - verify the home page is live without any slug, including the language slug
9 - check all other pages, this should be enough to kick the changes through for all pages, if not, you may have to repeat for any critical pages, otherwise it will likely take 24-48 hours for those pages to be available
Im getting this same issue but now. I done the refresh thing it worked hours ago but something triggered it to stop working and now this time no matter how many times i publish and unpublish with and without slug it doesnt load up the page anymore
@icyshak I’m sorry I missed your previous reply, it came through on my first day at HubSpot and I temporarily lost access to the community while I was transitioning from customer to employee. Were you able to get the issue resolved? a lot of times language changes can require the server to reset the cache which can take 24-48 hours and doesn’t happen immediately.
Hi, I have the same problem. How do ypu remove the general - language selection?
@RMiah the steps are above to update your language settings globally and per page, which part are you having trouble with?
