It would be very useful to have a warning in the email sending/review step when a contact is present in both an included recipient list and an exclusion list for the same email.
Currently, exclusion lists take precedence over inclusion lists. This is expected behaviour, but it can be easy to miss when preparing an email, especially when working with multiple lists or segments.
For example:
- Included list: Mutest contacts
- Excluded list: Nostrum Care contacts
- A contact belongs to both lists
- HubSpot automatically excludes the contact from the send
The issue is that, as far as I understand, there is currently no clear warning before sending that highlights these contacts specifically.
Why this would be useful
HubSpot already provides warnings before sending emails for things such as:
- Bounced contacts
- Non-marketing contacts
- Other contacts who may not receive the email
It would be helpful to have a similar warning for contacts who are included and excluded at the same time.
For example:
25 contacts are included in your recipient list but are also present in an exclusion list and will not receive this email.
Ideally, the warning could also allow the user to view the affected contacts before confirming the send.
This would make it much easier to identify configuration issues before an email is sent and avoid unintentionally excluding contacts who were supposed to receive the communication.
