I am thinking about changing my domain name. If i change my domain name how will this affect my SEO traffic. Are there any technical changes i need to make?

The first thing you’ll want to do on the technical side is setup re-directs. If you setup your re-directs correctly, eventually search engines will put two and two together and you’ll only be affected in the short term. That is unless you’re not able to redirect old URLs.
It’s also important to ask: Why are you wanting to change your domain name?
If it’s for a trivial reason, I would advise against it. i.e. It’s a cooler name.
It also depends on how old the website is. If it’s three months old, change the domain name and start over with a brand new SEO strategy. If it’s old, I would try my best to keep that domain, especially if it has keywords in it. Also if it’s old, that’s how your customers know you so it could be confusing to change your domain.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
Yea the domain i want to change to is more relevant than the one i currently have. When i first started out i didn’t have an understanding of seo. As i started to learn more and see what google search console is showing for impressions and clicks, I started to put 2 and 2 together. Give google what it wants and users. So that why i want to change it.
Okay most definitely go for it then! Just make sure you get those re-directs nailed down!
David, I’m about to change my business name. My actual name was already taken, so I just added “photography” to the end as it was available. I opened 3.5 years ago, but it’s been slow going. I have since learned videography and am going to make that a major business success hopefully. I don’t want people to question whether or not I provide video services based on my business name. I am dropping “photography” and changing it to “studios”. I currently build websites and am wanting to expand into including social media marketing for my clients. Do you think it’s a good idea to make the name change based on those reasons?
You could, however I would do some keyword research around your niche and see what people are actually searching for. You’ll want this for future SEO purposes.
That’s a good idea. Thank you
Hello!
1. Map de best pages with organic traffic using G Analytics.
2. After changing domain set up redirects 301.
3. Send social or paid traffic to your new domain.
Best regards.
The short response to this inquiry is: “Yes.” Like area name changes, your SEO execution can be contrarily affected by moving to another web have. It can influence client experience, SEO and security. For example, in case you are holding command over the old area name (which you can accomplish for as long as ten years), you ought to convey 301 sidetracks. These sidetracks will push guests to your old URLs over to the most applicable pages on the new site/space. I recommend digital marketer to make changes
I’m about to change my business name also. I hadn’t considered keeping the old name. I’m going to have study sidetracks; definitely a new term to me.
