I’m wondering if there’s a simpler method to check the original publication date of an article. Currently, the only information I have access to in HubSpot is the modified date for recently created articles. To keep track of the “created on” dates, I’m using another tool but it would be more convenient if this information was available directly in HubSpot.

Thanks!

Hello @SCruz11 thank you for posting in our Community!

I want to share this knowledge base with more details on [Analyzing your knowledge base performance.](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-analyze-my-knowledge-base-performance)

With this, you can start analyzing the performance of your knowledge base in terms of article views, as well as the average time users spend on each article.

To our top experts @danmoyle @Jnix284 @JenBergren any suggestions to @SCruz11 matter?

Thank you,

Pam

@PamCotton thanks for the tag, happy to help!

If you’re using a content management tool to track your article data, that’s probably the best option right now. The Knowledge Base product team is actively working on improvements, but the [request to provide a revision history](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Revision-History-for-Knowledge-Base-Articles/idi-p/244014) was marked as not currently planned which had a lot of traction and I thought would lead to better date analytics.

There is also an [idea to add the create date](https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Create-Date-for-Knowledge-Base-articles/idi-p/740167), you can upvote and add your feedback directly for the product team to review.

I’ve added my feedback to add a little more momentum 🙂

@SCruz11 I think you are doing all you can at the moment within the limitations of knowledge base reporting! Hopefully since the ability to have multiple knowledge bases was introduced recently, perhaps that means more advanced reporting is coming soon… we can hope! I see you’re already using a different tool (a spreadsheet perhaps?) to track create date. If this date is important to you, I would also recommend adding Create Date as part of your template for people to create the article itself, located within the text of the article until it becomes visible in a more “reporting” way later on.
For example, in my documentation classes, I recommend people add these items to the top of their article:

**Last Updated:**

**Who Updated:**

**Owner of article/category:**

Unless the tool you’re using stores that info elsewhere (which HubSpot does for some them

Including those details in the articles is a great callout @JenBergren - love that!

@SCruz11 when you’re looking at all of your blog posts in the backend, does the “created date” column not work for you?

 ![danmoyle_0-1690820435922.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/3X/b/2/b2a7bcd43f137c721147fbeae17f34e1b7943530.png)

That’s where I’d look first. The updated date gets updated, but the create date should be stamped.

@danmoyle I’m looking for the “created date” for our knowledge base articles specifically. It doesn’t look like I have access to the blog posts table in Hubspot, would this show the knowledge base articles as well?

@SCruz11 apologies - I somehow missed that you’re asking specifically about the Knowledge Base tool. It doesn’t appear that create date is a property or column available there, no. I’d second what @Jnix284 suggested then and add your voice to the Idea posted.

Sorry about that!
