Our company has a really unique situation. We are a private aviation company that sells ownership shares of aircraft. Each aircraft has a 5 year term. We built out a custom object to track the aircraft and their in service and out of service dates. Ownership shares can be sold throughout this 5 year term. An ownership share always lasts until the whatever that 5 year out of service date is.
Where it gets tricky is that each plane has 16 shares available. At any given time, they can either be a co lease or co ownership share. Example: 5 shares have been sold and 11 are available. One of the remaining shares can be leased out as a co lease share. This could be for a shorter term than the full time remaining on the life of the plane. I’m not sure how I should build line items out to account for both of these scenarios.
Hi @Stacks42! Welcome to the Community-- happy to have you here ![]()
This does sound like a tricky situation. So if each aircraft is its own object, then is your goal to have a separate associated deal for each share? This may require some manual tracking for the timelines. It might even be worth it to have different types of deal pipelines for the type of lease for the shares.
I’d like to invite some of our experts to the thread. Hey @Bryantworks, @franksteiner79, @Phil_Vallender-- do you know how we might track these varied leases for the custom objects? Thanks in advance!
Best,
Kennedy
