Hi there,

I’m new to using forms. I created a form that is pulling properties from a Custom Object and published it. I can see that there’s a form link or that you can publish it to your website. What I’d like to do is have this form linked to a Custom Object Record and when it is submitted those properties are populated. This seems pretty straight forward but I can’t figure out how to do this. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

LW

@LWest0 my previous agency implemented a solution where a property in the left sidebar of the ticket record was a link to a form and when submitted, the ticket properties were updated. This required a developer to configure and couldn’t be configured on the front-end without code.

There might be a solution that would work without code, especially since things are changing all the time, but my recommendation would be to start with a developer to see if they can help you.

Thanks so much for the reply! Ahhh seems so strange that there’s not an out of the box solution for this when you can pull in the properties - like why wouldn’t they just populate them? Seems strange but thanks for the idea I wonder if something has changed since then.

@LWest0 I’m confused, if the form is configured with properties for the custom object, when the form is submitted, the record should be updated and those property values should be displayed on the record.

It sounds like maybe something isn’t configured correctly - I thought you wanted the form submission itself to be visible from the record, not that the properties weren’t updating.

Hey @LWest0

if you have Enterprise

you should be able to see Custom object properties available to use in forms

maybe not all of them but some.

They at the bottom of the screen where search for the properties to add to the form

Let me show you an example:

 ![Screenshot 2024-06-21 at 10.37.35.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/3X/1/6/166b028476135362d0282ee68242cd9a5d653115.png)

Another option is to build this custom as Jennifer mentioned, of course development is needed but possible.

Let me know if you need help with this.

Hope this helps

Hi Lucila!

Thanks for the reply. I am able to pull in the custom objects properties to the form but what I would like to happen is that when this form is filled out it is linked to a custom object record and when submitted those properties are updated. Do you know if that’s possible? If there is a solution with code is there any documentation around this that I can review?

Thank you!

LW

Hey @LWest0

so whenever a form is completed and submited

all the properties in the form are being pulled to the record/object.

If you go to the Custom Object record should be able to see the properties complete

and if you look at the timeline of activites you should see the completed form as part of the history.

Here is an example:

 ![Screenshot 2024-06-26 at 10.30.59.png](https://d2qpr2jzcazej7.cloudfront.net/original/3X/d/5/d57b793808541e95c44ecc387c0c5677103289de.png)

Completing the form 'd only create a new record for the custom object. If you are trying to update an existing record you 'd need to use the Record ID or any unique identifier of the Custom object. But these are not usually possible to use visible in the form, just as hidden fields and then using a custom coded action to update the record.

Let me know is this what you where looking for or if I misundertood something.

Hi Lucy,
good to see your post!
I would like to create a form for getting properties information about a record (book title). How can we link the result of the form to a specific title? Should we make an association after the form has been filled
Or
can we merge a record with an existing one
or
should we ask for an identifier through the form?
Thank you for your amazing support!
