Hi all,

Is anyone using HubSpot to calculate time to do something? Example; product x takes 4 hours to complete. Customer orders 5 pieces of product x. I would like the form to calculate the total time it takes to assemble, so 5x4hours. However, the calculation properties are not available in forms.

Is anyone doing something similar; what app or other alternative are you using to achive this?

Hi @MHarju,

Yes, this exists in the form of calculation properties: [Create calculation and rollup properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-calculation-properties)

What do you mean when you say that these are not available in forms? Calculation properties calculate based on the value in CRM properties. Before a form submission, these values are not yet stored and cannot be calculated.
Are you looking for a solution to display the result after submitting the form? Could you specify what your expected behavior is?

Best regards!

Whenever I have tried to build this with forms, the calculated properties are never available and HubSpot also states that calculated properties are not available in forms. [Understand property field types in HubSpot](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/property-field-types-in-hubspot#:~:text=Calculation%3A%20stores%20equations%20based%20on,Professional%20and%20Enterprise%20accounts%20only).

The expected behaviour is; customer fills out form with how many pieces they want, and I would get the hour calculation of the form fill via a property field under Contact who filled the form. A workflow could be created to make a deal of the form fill also.

@MHarju I’m not sure my point is getting across – do you want to show the result of the calculation to the contact who is submitting the form or is the result of the calculation only relevant for HubSpot users in your CRM?

If it’s the former, there is no default HubSpot feature for this. It would either require custom coding based on the HubSpot forms API or a third-party solution.

If it’s the latter, if the result should be displayed in reports, on the contact record, in filtered views, then the calculation property does not need to be on the form. Simply create it following the instructions and once the form is submitted, the calculation property will calculate.

A calculation property cannot be put into a form.

Yes the point is that the customer is doing their bit; ordering the amount they want and the calculation would help our own process/users with letting them know how much time to allocate. I have no idea how I would “connect” the two properties/funcionalities; eg. the form´s customer property that asks the amount and the calculation property that informs the hours.

@MHarju did you review this entire article? [Create calculation and rollup properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-calculation-properties#create-custom-equation-calculation-properties)

This section explains how to set u pa custom calculation where you would simply add your first property, the mathematical operation you’d like to perform, your second property, save it. That’s it.

Ok, I might not be as fluent in “mathematical operations” as you seem to be, but if this is the only solution I´ll have to try 🙂 Thanks!
