Use "Time Spent Viewing Email" in campaign reports

The “Time Spent Viewing Email” is a fantastic feature but is very hard to report on for more than just an individual email. I would love to be able to use that metric in larger email reports that reflect multiple emails. Even just putting in the campaign view would be very helpful. Could we make it possible for this metric to be used in email dashboards? Also, could we make it possible to have an “average time spent viewing email” for campaigns?

I would love this to be available as well!

I think some aggregation by the campaign thats also filterable on the Analyze tab would be awesome. On top of that, I think it’d be very valuable to at least have that information available when exporting perforamnce data from emails to an excel sheet. The Time spent viewing and top clicked link data is really helpful.

Would love this option based on a campaign (vs individual email) and over a specified time period to show more engagement by readers.

Agree! “Time spent viewing email” is a unique and new data point that will be more useful when it can easily be compared across emails. @hubspot please make this a filter/column option in the custom report building/email view tool so clients can more easily use, view, and compare this data point. Thank you.

Also agree, I think it would be helpful to try and measure this against different types of marketing sends we do, especially for those with more content-rich copy vs. straight and to the point.

This would be very helpful

I’m surpised that this isn’t already possible - please make this metrics accessible through reports!

Agree!!! This would be very helpful

Yes please. I’m a HubSpot Solutions Partner with Enterprise clients that want this.

My company has been asking for this as well. I want to be able to report on the time spent viewing an email on more than 1 email at a time.

I was trying to do this and ended up here as the “no, you can’t do that” endpoint.

If the data is in the email profile why can’t I report on it!?!

I noticed that in the past week or so my Read % (which was 90% previously) was suddenly down around 50% … but now I think the change is systemic (looked at old email and the number changed).

Adding another vote for this — it’d be genuinely valuable beyond just visibility into a single send.

Two concrete use cases on our end:

  1. Testing copy length. We want to A/B test short vs. long-form email copy and use average time spent (not just opens/clicks) as a signal for whether longer content is actually being read or just scrolled past. Right now we’d have to manually pull this from each email and stitch it together ourselves, which isn’t sustainable at scale.
  2. Segmentation by engagement depth. Open and click rates tell us if someone engaged, not how they engaged. Being able to filter or build a list based on “read” vs. “skimmed” vs. “glanced” behavior over a campaign or time period would let us segment contacts by actual attention level, not just binary engagement.

Right now this metric is trapped on the individual email performance page, which makes it nearly impossible to use for testing or trend analysis. Even just adding it as a filterable column in the custom report builder, or an aggregate on the campaign/Analyze view, would unlock a lot of value here. This has been open since 2023, with steady demand in the comments—I’d love an update on whether it’s on the roadmap.
