Hubspot has recently added the ability to make multi-language variants using AI translation from DeepL. Awesome. While a human often needs to verify DeepL’s translation, this is a dramatic improvement in productivity when managing multi-language websites.
However, the DeepL setting is using Hubspot’s general DeepL integration. I would like an option to be able to replace that with our own paid DeepL account. Paid DeepL accounts allow for things such as custom dictionaries so that specific terms are always translated in a certain way, e.g. brand terms but also more technical terms. Or simply to have consistency. Paid DeepL accounts also allow for setting formality settings, in languages where there is e.g. a difference in informal and formal use of “you”. Again, a generic account would not allow this. Also, your privacy is protected when having a paid account. In Hubspot’s DeepL account, and free accounts, DeepL is using all your translations to train their general AI engine for all DeepL’s customers. If using a paid, private account, you can keep your texts out of their training set.
So 3 benefits from being able to use a paid, own DeepL account:
- ability to use dictionaries, to translate words and sentences consistently across translations
- ability to set formality tone, e.g. use of “vous” or “tu” in French when translating the English “you”
- ability to privacy opt-out of training the AI engine with your texts
