I am trying to create a custom sidebar for account records, which is easy enough. However, I don’t want all the integrations and other options showing for everyone. So, I decided to make a “super admins” custom sidebar. Again, it’s easy enough.
The problem is that HubSpot wants you to use Teams to designate a specific custom sidebar. Not permission sets. So, I made a Super Admins Team. However, the three members of that team are already members of another team. Which means they are “extra” members of the Super Admins Team. Which means that b/c of the way HubSpot treats Extra members, that team is essentially useless.
So I’m just trying to figure out a way around this mess. We have multiple teams. We have nexted teams. And we have people on multiple teams. But the way HubSpot uses Teams, they are only optimial if all team members are unique to a single team. Whih in the real world is not how things work.

You are correct on this. The way teams and the team views are set up in HubSpot does not make it particularly easy to manage.
The only way I can see this working for you is by making the Super Admin team their primary team, and their other team their extra team. This means they will see the correct record view and still be a member of their correct team.
Again, not ideal but I think this is the only way to do it at the moment.

Yep. That’s the conclusion I came to as well. Unfortunately that will not work either b/c I need those people in the other teams as well. I can’t have them being “extra” members of the other teams.

I understand that you created a custom sidebar and you have users who are on different teams. You’d like to have a custom sidebar for some users who are on several teams. Please let me know if that’s not the case.
Not sure if you are using it already but within the Teams you have parent teams and child teams, for information.
Also, you can assign the custom sidebar to multiple teams if needed or create several sidebars as a workaround. Even if I understand that it is not ideal.

Yes and no. I created a new team with members from other teams. B/c they are members of other teams, they are “extra” members of the new team. Consequently, since HubSpot has handicapped the “extra” team members, the custom sidebars won’t show for them. I cannot make them main members of that team b/c that would then handicap other functions they need to have as members of their main teams. Seems very short sighted on HubSpots part.
