Use a button in a marketing email to create a follow-up task

Hi! I created a marketing email that is sent out automatically to the customer when a ticket reaches a certain status. Within that email, I put a button, but I want to create a workflow where someone is internally notified when the button is clicked. I tried to make a CTA but can’t get it to work. I don’t want the customer to have to click the button in the email and then another button for the CTA. Right now, the button takes them to a splash page that has a confirmation message.
Any ideas how to make this work?
Thanks!

Hi @CLBF,

Automated ticket emails are considered marketing emails - in a ticket based workflow, you can enroll a ticket when it’s associated to a intact who clicked that particular link in a marketing email, then use the “Create task” workflow action.

To add the enrolment criteria, choose “When filter criteria is met”, change the filter dropdown from ticket to contact, and find marketing emails in the “Event” filter tab. Select the email and specify the link.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, you can’t check in the workflow whether the contact clicked on the link as part of the current open ticket or a previous one. That’s a limitation in HubSpot.

Let me know if you have any follow up questions
