You mentioned, “In the GDPR settings if “legal basis required” isn’t ticked, contacts are being treated as “opted-in” as long as they haven’t opted out, meaning even an “unknown” status counts as opted in.”
“Once that box has been ticked, only active opt-ins are shown in my preference centre.” <--- The bolded part here is how I would expect it to work either way.
How does having the checkboxes pre-checked (when a contact is “unknown”) align with other laws, such as CASL? Treating unknown contacts as opted-in is very CAN-SPAM, as that law is an “opt-out” law, whereas something like CASL is an “opt-in” law. The GDPR setting shouldn’t have to be turned on to follow CASL?
How can the subscription types be hidden from the overview?
The user should only see what they are registered for.
As an example I have the following lists:
- webinar
- Press
- Newsletter
The user who receives the newsletter and the webinar should not see the press and should not be able to actively register, only if they click on it.
Looking at our subscription preferences page again through an email link, and notice that only the subscription types I am subscribed to show as checked.
This is not what it was previously when I posted this idea 2 years ago - anyone else see this change?
Realmente, uma vez que clicamos no botão de cancelar e o mais intuitivo é manter o que queremos cancelar, e não o que queremos manter, quem sabe em um futuro revejam isso.
I could copy and paste many of the responses to this “idea” already, but below sums up my feelings perfectly. PLEASE FIX NOW.
FInally got to the bottom of why people thought they were unsubscribed to everything. This is crazy!
I have never used another platform that displays the data like this, it is a SERIOUS headache for GDPR and user experience, how is this still the default?
I’m actually staggered that this is allowed to happen, it’s not only terrible UX but is no doubt contributing to increasing levels of unsubscribes and desperately needs to be fixed.
Fully agree with @OOakes - this actually seems like a breach of trust to end users to display seemingly incorrect information about their opt-in status. Really poor user experience.
Fully agree with everyone here—this is a headache to deal with and makes for a very confusing user experience.
After a full year with Hubspot, we finally discovered this is why some of our contacts were signed up for 12+ versions of the same emails in different languages! These contacts understandly get frustrated and many of them end up unsubscribing from all communications.
Hubspot, please allow us to change the default settings on subscription pages!
6 years later and there is still no way to update the confusing language “Uncheck the types of emails you do not want to receive:”
Wouldnt it make more sense to have them check the subscriptions they DO want? Also, having the subscription type with its description below it makes the list look messy. Please allow us some configuration options for this.
