We have approximately 5,000 churches and schools (companies) in HubSpot. Twice a year, we get an updated complete list of those churches and schools from our parent church body. That list includes updates on who the main contacts are at each of those churches and schools. It’s common for a school principal, or a pastor, to change jobs and to move to another church or school in our database. So, getting that updated list twice a year is incredibly valuable.
Here’s the problem. If we import the updated list, if the contact is now associated with a different company, HubSpot just adds that company as a 2nd associated company. We need a way to tell HubSpot to “move” the contact to the new company (unassociate the old company and/or add the new company).
Or, issue 2, if a contact has a new email (common, since it’s a new job), HubSpot sees that as a new contact and creates a new contact record.
I’m sure this issue is relatively common for businesses that buy lists, etc., and uses them to update their contacts.
