I have a current HubSpot Free account registered under email address (A). I am trying to change the email address on this account to email address (B).
HubSpot tells me that the email address (B) is already in use.
Email address (B) was associated with a previous HubSpot account that I canceled. The old account is no longer active, and I cannot log into HubSpot using that email address (B). When I try, HubSpot indicates that there is no account associated with the email.
I do not want to restore the old HubSpot account. I simply need email address (B) released from the previous account or user record so I can use it as the login email for my current HubSpot account.
Can a HubSpot employee or Community moderator help determine why the email is still showing as already in use and how it can be released?
Hi @Cinside
You should be able to clear that issue from your end pretty quickly!
You’ll need to log onto your old account (Account B) that is occupying the Email address you want to use.
Once logged in, Navigate to your Profile & Preferences (using the Gear Icon, or clicking your icon profile in the top right)
From your Profile, look for the Security Tab, and scroll all the way to the bottom. You should see options for “Remove from this account” and “Permanently Remove”.
If you are the only Super Admin for Account B, I believe you will have use permanently Remove and that will delete the entire account, so you’ll want to make sure you preserve anything from that old account you need to keep. (If other people are on the account, you can use the “Remove from this account” action and that will preserve Account B but take your Email off it)
Once Email B has been deleted from Account B, the system will log you out, and you should then be able to login to Account A with Email A, and update to Email B in your security settings.
Hopefully that helps! Keep me posted if not, I’m happy to help troubleshoot further
