# UI Extensions feature request - DateInput doesn't allow searching by year

Would it be possible to put in a request for the **\<**** DateInput\>** component to enable selection by year?

I’m building a Contacts UI extension that requires the user to select a date of birth as part of a separate workflow, but currently the only option using the **\<DateInput\>** component is to click back through the months.  
If the birthdate is in 1975 for example, thats nearly 600 clicks to get there!

Hi Simon, thank you for your patience. Seems like this is an issue on our end and we are working to get it fixed. But if you do want a quicker fix for now, these formats will let the user select the date from the Input box:

- short
- standard
- YYYY-MM-DD
- L

This would mean that they can avoid the painful click backs. Let me know if that helps and please do send along any other feedback regarding UI Components. We’re always looking to improve your experience. Thanks a lot!

Circling back with an exciting update: The bug has been fixed! You should be able to use any and all DateInput formats now without this issue. Thanks so much for bringing this up 🙂
