I’m working on preparing my October newsletter on the HS marketing hub for the first time, with the contacts I’ve imported from our previous email tool.
Some of these contacts were already on HS as owned by our sales team which had the HS sales hub for a bit longer. Our Newsletter list is made of 2 different target audiences, with a good number of them being already customers.
Here’s the problem: I can send a Newsletter only to contacts that are listed as marketing contacts. So, I’ll have to turn some of those contacts owned by Sales into Marketing contacts.
Will that have any implications for the contacts? Or influence the way the Sales team can access/engage with those contacts through the Sales Hub?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Setting contacts as marketing contacts is purely a billing functionality. It doesn’t affect the sales team. The only tools working with / relying on marketing contact status are these: Understand marketing contacts
If you’re concerned that the sales team is being affected by this update, you don’t have to be.
I’d recommend however closely aligning with the sales team to make sure you’re not communicating with contacts twice at the same time (marketing + sales).
Would you suggest adding any additional info to those contacts, so they’re easily recognizable by the sales team? If so, do you suggest any specific metric I could update to highlight this decision?
That would be a way to either filter out contacts that were recently emailed or to simply have that context in a filtered contact view on the contact index page (Menu > Contacts > Contacts).
