Hi community!
I hope I post this in the right locaiton.
We have a Customer Success team that has a renewal target and an expansion target.
In reporting, is there anyway to separate a line item in a won deal in two groups, e.g. 80% renewal 20% expansion. So if the deal value was $100 I can see that for this deal $80 was renewal and $20 expansion?
Hi @Linder1!
By default, HubSpot’s Deals object doesn’t allow splitting a single deal value into multiple categories unless you build custom properties or logic. Reporting is usually per deal or per line item, not “partial deal attribution.”
A possible workaround for what you’re looking to achieve is to add a custom dropdown property to each product/line item, such as “Revenue Type” with values like Renewal and Expansion. Then, when adding line items to a deal, you can assign the appropriate revenue type to each one. This allows you to break down deal revenue by category at the line item level.
How to Set Up the Report:
-
Create a custom report using the following objects:
- Deals (as the primary object)
- Line Items
- Company (optional, if your deals are associated with companies)
-
Choose a horizontal bar chart as your visualization.
-
Configure the axes:
- X-axis: Deal Amount
- Y-axis: Deal Owner or Company (depending on what dimension you want to display)
-
For Breakdown By, select your custom line item property: “Revenue Type”.
This setup should provide a clear visual split of deal amounts by renewal and expansion revenue, based on the categorization of each line item (see example below for reference)
