# Tracking Contacts based on their source

How can i best track contacts from their source. In the original source field i only can choose stuff from a dropdown. but i would like to add the information, that we got this contact on a dedicated event. And i would like to make a dropdown with all the events we participate.

If you want to create your own options, you would have to create a new custom contact property: [Create and edit properties](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/manage-your-properties)

The original source fields can unfortunately not be edited.
