I have a machine deal that was sold to Brown & Company for example. That deal is associated to the company and its contact. Brown & Company has subsequently sold that machine to their customer (essentially becoming second hand).
What is the best way to show that machine was sold to Brown & Company originally and then on to A B C Strand Ltd . All deals are unique using the serial number, and therefore I cannot use that number twice. I guess its downstream selling?
Thank you in advance
Few clarifying question to better understand your setup/business…
How do you know a customer of yours sold the machine to someone else?
How often does that happen?
How many machines are you selling a month/quarter/year
What’s the total machine volumen sold the last 5 years
I ultimately think a machine is the equivalent of a product/line item that you sell, but you can not really manage inventory through that. So, the next logical step would be a custom object that represents a machine, exists once as a data entry (is therefore unique) but can then be associated to multiple deals, companies or contacts.
The total volumes matter because if these are low, there is no need to come up with a complex fully automated custom object setup. I am not asking this because I’m nosy, but because I want to understand the scale of the problem and make a recommendation that is appropriate to the scale of the problem you are facing…
We only use Hubspot for Markting purposes, and not sales. However, after a bit of thought I have created a label “resale” and when a machine has been sold to a third part. I add the third party to the deal and apply the label. So that deal appears in both Company Records. But thank you for your help
