To off tag the marketing contacts, what happens with the history?

When the marketing contacts are tagged on, then we can choose them as receiver of marketing mails. When we off-tag them, does this impact the history, or does is say they were marketing contacts?

You will not lose any contact history by setting a contact to non-marketing. You can also always review whether a contact was previously a marketing contact via the property history: View a record's property history
